Ashleigh has developed a strong criminal law practice and accepts instructions in the Crown, Magistrates and Youth Court. She is a grade 2 prosecutor.
Ashleigh has been described as a tenacious barrister who is meticulous in her preparation and presentation of cases. She prides herself on her approachability for both lay and professional clients and maintains her down-to-earth attitude when giving sound legal advice.
Ashleigh has also been instructed on multi-handed trials and has experience in cases involving youths and vulnerable clients. She has completed the relevant training in relation to the cross-examination of vulnerable individuals and/or children.

R v TA - Derby Crown Court. Three-day defence trial involving cross-examination of a 11-year-old and a vulnerable adult requiring the assistance of an interpreter. The Defendant faced counts of common assault and threats to kill with a weapon. Ashleigh successfully secured the acquittal of the Defendant of the most serious count.
R v LS - Bradford Crown Court. Two-day defence trial involving counts of possession of intent to supply class A. Ashleigh successfully secured the acquittal of the Defendant.
R v PB - Bradford Crown Court. Four-day prosecution trial involving one count of assault occasioning actual bodily harm. The Defendant was convicted after trial, receiving a suspended sentence order.
R v MB & MM - York Crown Court. Three-day defence trial involving two Defendants of foreign nationality thereby requiring the assistance of interpreters. The jury returned mixed verdicts after trial.
R v MB - Sheffield Youth Court. Instructed on behalf of the defence. A three-day trial involving seven charges of serious sexual offences. Ashleigh conducted ground rules hearings in relation to all child witnesses. The trial involved the cross-examination of complainants aged 7 and 9 years of age. Intermediaries had been instructed in relation to both the Defendant and complainants. Ashleigh successfully secured the acquittal of five charges with the Defendant being convicted of the remaining two charges. The Defendant was sentenced to a twelve-month YRO.
R v MA & Others - Newcastle Crown Court. Instructed on behalf of the Crown. Acting as Junior to Mr Simon Kealey QC during the sentencing hearing following the conclusion of a three-month trial.
R v MD - Grimsby Crown Court. Sentencing hearing for one count of assault occasioning actual bodily harm. Ashleigh successfully argued for the imposition of a suspended sentence with one requirement of unpaid work.
R v NvL - Leeds Crown Court. Instructed on behalf of the defence. A committal for sentence where the Defendant had previously pleaded guilty to possession and distribution child pornography. He was sentenced to a community order for one year with RAR.
R v LS - Lincoln Magistrates Court. Instructed on behalf of the defence. Domestic violence assault trial whereby the Defendant was acquitted following trial.
