Personal Injury

John was called to the Bar in 2011 and has a broad civil practice in the field of personal injury.

John acts for both Claimants and Defendants and has experience in small claims, fast track trials and is regularly instructed to attend interim hearings.  John also accepts instructions to draft pleadings and advice on prospects in all aspects PI cases.

In 2012/13, John spent two legal terms in the Court of Appeal as Judicial Assistant to the then Master of the Rolls, Lord Dyson. In this role he was required to provide research and written opinions on many difficult and high-profile appeal cases. 

Prior to commencing pupillage, John spent a year teaching Equity & Trusts, Land Law and Intellectual Property Law at Sheffield Hallam University. 

Before being called to the Bar, John enjoyed a long career as an operational firefighter and this provides the background to his interest in legal issues relating to, and involving, the emergency services. 

John is enthusiastic about sport and fitness and this underpins an interest in sports law. As a competitive triathlete, John regularly takes part in triathlons, mostly over the standard distance, at events all around the United Kingdom and into Europe.
