John has a busy criminal practice acting for both prosecution and defence. He has prosecuted for CPS, Consignia and the Trading Standards Authorities.  John has particularly significant experience in intellectual property crime.


Notable Cases

R (Oxford Trading Standards) -v- Jenkins & Others - A £10million copyright and Trade Mark
infringement led by Clare Montgomery QC.
R (MCPS) -v- Watson - An importation of copyright and Trade Mark infringing goods.
R (BPI) -v- Coppen & Others - Leader on 6 week conspiracy to defraud.
R -v- Johnstone [2003] UKHL28, [2003] 3 All ER 884, [2003] 1 WLR 1736 - Led - The case considered the validity and interpretation of section 92 of the Trade Marks Act 1994 in the context of a European directive.
