Adult care and Court of Protection

As a sub-group of the family team, barristers in this team have specific expertise and experience in community care and health law.

Areas of work covered includes:-

  • Ordinary residence disputes
  • CHC and other funding disputes
  • Eligibility for care services generally incl, children leaving care, prisoners, and asylum seekers and migrants
  • Provision, closure and reorganisation of health care services

We also benefit from cross-disciplinary expertise in disability law, mental health, mental capacity, education, housing, freedom of information, social security, EU and human rights law. 

We field barristers at all call bands and advise and appear at all levels of the courts and tribunals, including in judicial reviews, mental health tribunal and the Court of Protection (see our bespoke Court of Protection/Mental Capacity Team). 

We also provide advisory services and can assist in mediations /other forms of dispute resolution including complaints processes.
