Zenith Chambers’ Pupillage Application Process 2018/19

Zenith Chambers is advertising for three pupillages:

  1. Family law pupillage to commence in September 2019
  2. Criminal law pupillage to commence in September 2019
  3. Common law pupillage to commence in September 2020

Zenith Chambers is one of the largest sets on the North Eastern Circuit and home to many highly experienced barristers, all of whom take responsibility for providing guidance and a high quality pupillage to talented lawyers.

All pupillages will last for a period of 12 months, during which time pupils can expect to have a minimum of two different supervisors.

Chambers aims to ensure that our pupillages are varied and interesting and also that communication between pupils and other members of Chambers is as productive and instructive as possible.

Pupillage offers are based upon a combination of academic merit and success at interview. Success at the short first interview gives candidates the opportunity to attend a second interview where you will be expected to answer questions in more depth and give a short advocacy exercise to a panel.

The pupillage award will be £15,000 (£7,500 award in the first six months and guaranteed minimum earnings of £7,500 in the second six months). However, we expect our pupils will earn greater than £7,500 in their second six months.

The decision regarding tenancy is made by Chambers. All applications from eligible prospective pupils will be considered. Decisions regarding tenancy are usually made in August following the pupillage year.

In the 2018/2019 pupillage application round, Zenith Chambers will be using an electronic form.

The electronic form and further details regarding the application process will be posted here from 16th  November 2018.

The deadline for applications for pupillage is 5pm on 17th December 2018. Any applications received after this date will NOT be considered.
