Crime

Our large and well respected Team of Criminal Barristers includes members of all levels of seniority handling both Defence and Prosecution cases, and benefits from the leadership of some very gifted practitioners including three Silks, nine Grade 4 prosecutors and seven Grade 3 prosecutors.

The Barristers have a hugely varied repertoire covering all types of criminal case: murder, sexual offences, drugs importation, money laundering down to lesser offences such as burglary. Our capable junior barristers are often able to assist clients at the last minute when they are unable to cover a case themselves.

The Criminal Barristers handle both private and public prosecution cases. In addition to general crime, their work embraces prison law, court martial, revenue and customs, health and safety, trading standards, actions against the police and prison service, regulatory, housing fraud and benefit fraud.

At the forefront in this area, the Crime Team has been involved in a number of complex and high profile cases such as R v Hewitt, Tuttle & Others (Hull Care Home case); R v Sadiq, Majid, Karim & Others (large-scale Ravensthorpe violent disorder) and R v Castree (murder of Lesley Molseed, in relation to which Stefan Kiszko was wrongly convicted in 1976).

You will find the Crime Team barristers friendly, helpful and down-to-earth in approach. If you need to speak to a criminal barrister, contact the dedicated Criminal Clerking Team on 0113 245 5438 or email crime@zenithchambers.co.uk to ask a member of the team to contact you.
