Pupillage and Recruitment
Mini pupillage
Zenith Chambers offers non-assessed work experience for a one week period. This is commonly known as a Mini Pupillage. During this time you will shadow a member of Chambers at court and in conferences, thus providing an excellent way of seeing what it is like to be a Barrister in a successful set of Chambers.
Applications for a mini pupillage during 2008 should be made to Matthew Donkin at Zenith Chambers before 31st October 2007. Send him:
- Your CV
- A covering letter
- Details of your availability during 2008
All applicants will be told, by the 30th November 2007, whether they have been successful or not.
Pupillage
In a culture dedicated to training and mentoring, our twelve month pupillages are carefully regulated. Shadowing your pupil master (an experienced member of Chambers), he or she ensures that they cover as wide a variety of work as practicable. As a general common law set, there is opportunity for you to undertake your own paid work in the 2nd six months, whilst at the same time continuing to spend some time with your pupil master to optimise your pupillage experience. The number of pupillage places we offer is limited to just one or two a year, and in the current climate, competition is very strong.
Pupillage Award:
The current award of the equivalent of £12,500.00 pa is currently under review for the next round of applications. Throughout pupillage, in addition to the pupillage award, we will reimburse any travelling expenses incurred when accompanying your pupil master.
To apply:
You should apply for pupillage at Zenith Chambers through the OLPAS scheme. Once selected through that system, Chambers then has an internally devised system by which pupils are scored and chosen. Chambers considers both academia and previous experience, taking into account mature as well as fresh-out-of-University candidates. You need to have a minimum qualification of a 2:1 degree in order to be a considered for pupillage at Zenith Chambers.
