Our Team - In Your Defence

We are one of  few Chambers in the UK who have a dedicated Court Martial team. It is led by an experienced criminal barrister, Simon Perkins, who formerly served in the Royal Air Force.  The  team is experienced in representing servicemen facing disciplinary proceedings and can provide help, advice and assistance in all levels of Disciplinary action including AGAI and Redress of Complaint proceedings in addition to the Court Martial.

Our barristers are sensitive to the demands and realities of Service life which, combined with knowledge of the relevant law and strong advocacy skills, allows them to deliver robust representation.

With a solid foundation in criminal court advocacy, the Team has expertise in defending all types of allegations from the most grave, such as homicide, rape and serious violence against the person through to dishonesty and drug offences. All members of the team have years of Crown Court trial experience and all have appeared in the Court of Appeal.

Before you choose who to entrust with your defence, we can provide, free of charge, a preliminary consultation about the charge(s) you face and the options you have for securing representation. Acknowledging that Legal Aid demands significant monthly contributions, we can now provide representation, in appropriate cases,  at pre-agreed rates which are significantly less costly than the monthly contributions levied for Legal Aid.  We will also provide assistance with making the decision between agreed cost representation or seeking Legal Aid. In some circumstances it may be preferable to obtain Legal Aid.

We recognise that the demands of service life mean that meetings and conversations with lawyers cannot always be conveniently arranged in the core working day.  If you choose to be represented by Zenith Chambers we will provide mobile telephone and e-mail contacts so that preparation of your defence is not constrained by a 9 till 5 day.
