Our Team
We have an established reputation as being one of the leading personal injury sets on the North Eastern circuit.
The ethos of the team is to forge close working partnerships with clients to secure the best possible outcome. Our ability to do this is reflected by an accolade in the Legal 500 UK [2010] which recognises that our, ‘barristers and clerks develop good working relationships.’
With over 25 barristers in this specialist group we provide personal injury specialists with a comprehensive selection of counsel who handle all aspects of personal injury work at all levels. A number of our individual barristers are also recognised as leaders in this field including our head of Chambers, Julian Goose QC, who is described as ‘outstanding’ Legal 500 UK [2007] as well as the head of the personal injury team, Anesh Pema.
The team act for both Claimants and Defendants in equal proportions and our clients include well known national firms as well as insurance companies, local authorities and trade unions. Senior members of the group specialise in catastophic injuries - particularly spinal and brain injury cases. Our talented junior barristers provide a complete service to instructing solicitors in fast-trak and multi-track trials in courts across the region.
Our experienced clerking team operate stringent work protocols to ensure delivery of the best possible service. Fees can be discussed prior to the commencement of work and our barristers undertake work which is funded in a variety of ways, including CFA’s.
Our commitment to working closely with clients extends to providing comprehensive training seminars on a wide range of topics, from how to handle a basic road traffic accident to complex injury claims. In addition to providing bespoke training sessions for clients members of the team are regularly invited to speak at national events held by industry organisations such as MASS and APIL.
Our barristers regularly contribute articles and commentaries on case law or CPR updates for legal publications on a both a national and regional level. Several members have been editors of key personal injury publications such as Personal Injury Precedents (Sweet & Maxwell), APIL Guide to Fatal Accidents and the Law Society’s litigation handbook. One of the most experienced members of the team, Gordon Exall wrote the 11th edition of Munkman on Damages for Personal Injury.
