Other Tenancies

Associate Tenants

Zenith Chambers has appointed a number of Associate Tenants over the years including 3 in the Autumn of 2010. We are always interested in “heavy weight” barristers who wish to extend their practice into Leeds and the North East and will consider any specialist legal discipline.

The advantage for the Associate Tenant is that they can increase their work load and income without having to leave their current Chambers and uproot their home. Associate Tenants will be marketed as a Member of one or more of the Practice Groups they join, although they will not be full members under the Constitution.

They are asked to agree a simple Memorandum of Understanding to confirm the arrangement.

Associate Tenants pay a reduced percentage of their fees earned and received as compared to full members, but they are nevertheless welcome to join in any Chambers’ events, attend any seminars, and enjoy Chambers’ facilities.

Fixed Term Tenants

Whilst not a Member of Chambers as defined by the Constitution, Fixed Term Tenants ("FTTs") will enjoy most of the same advantages and obligations as other members.

FTTs will receive the fees that they earn subject to a set percentage reduction.

Tenancies are offered for a period of 12 months and may be extended for a further 12 months by mutual consent.. At the end of this period the FTT must leave Chambers unless an offer of a full tenancy has been made and accepted.

A FTT’s position is not the same as for a Probationary Tenant (see below). It is more like a pupil in that there is no presumption that a tenancy will be offered at the end of the fixed term. However, offers may be made by Chambers to suitable candidates.

We are presently interested in hearing from barristers to cover Personal Injury and Housing work.

3rd 6 Pupil and Probationary Tenants

We take on 3rd 6 pupils and Probationary Tenants from time to time. We do so "with a view" to taking them on as Tenants at the end of the 6 months / probationary period. There is no commitment either way to a tenancy.

There are presently no vacancies for either of these positions.
