2011 has been a memorable year for us. We have raised over £10,000 for a range of charities as part of our ’10 for 10’ campaign to celebrate our 10th anniversary year. In the summer, barristers and staff were guests of James Clappison MP (non-practising member of Chambers) at the House of Commons, where were we treated to a guided tour of both the House of Commons and the Lords, as well as a champagne reception overlooking the Thames followed by dinner (which of course included Yorkshire pudding!).
Another highlight was to be awarded ‘Chambers of the Year’ at the Yorkshire Lawyer Awards in October. It was particularly special to win this award as the organisers had added this new category, along with ‘Barrister of the Year’ in which Gordon Exall was ‘highly recommended’. 2011 has also seen us become one of only a few Chambers in the North to attain the BarMark quality accreditation; demonstrating our commitment to quality representation and client care.
Our CPD seminar and training programme has gone from strength to strength. In September we welcomed SCJ Lord Walker as guest speaker at our annual Munkman Lecture when he memorably spoke on ‘Sex, Leaks and Super Injunctions.’ Earlier in the year the family team had guest speaker Professor Tanya Byron at their annual Children Law seminar. We expanded our ‘Wine & Wisdom’ series which is now being done by both the Family and Personal Injury teams. This popular format will be repeated in 2012 so please keep an eye out on our website for details of our forthcoming seminars.
Andrew Argyle, Zenith’s Chief Executive said, “It really has been an amazing year for us. We are delighted to have smashed our target and want to thank everyone who has helped us to raise such a terrific amount. The support that we have received from our clients has made our 10th anniversary year extra special.”
We wish everyone and very happy Christmas and New year, and look forward to working with you during 2012.
