Winners at the Yorkshire Lawyer Awards

It was a very proud evening for Zenith Chambers at the annual Yorkshire Lawyer Awards, held at The Queens Hotel in Leeds on 5th October 2011. Julian Goose QC and Andrew Argyle collected the award for ‘Chambers of the Year’ in front of an audience of 360 lawyers and other legal professionals from across the Yorkshire region. Gordon Exall was also 'Highly Recommended' in the 'Barrister of the year category'.

These categories were both new additions to the Yorkshire Lawyers awards which is now in its 11th year. In a world where the legal profession and the delivery of legal services are undergoing a significant transformation, it was considered appropriate by the organisers, Barker Brooks Media, to include them.

The award recognised a number of ‘firsts’ for a Leeds Chambers, including being the first Chambers on the North Eastern Circuit to appoint a Chief Executive.

Zenith was recognised for its strategic initiatives relating to ABS’s and ProcureCo and in particular leading the way with a consortium bid between 3 Chambers to secure the family legal work for 5 West Yorkshire Local Authorities.

Chambers has grown by around 25% over the last 12 months and has introduced 3 new specialist practice teams – Construction & Engineering; Adult Care and Court Martial. With the launch of a ‘Mobile-friendly’ website; eMarketing campaigns; Twitter account and LinkedIn, Chambers has shown itself to be willing to embrace new technology and was described at the awards as a 'pioneering and modern Set'. Supporting both the legal, local and business community generally has been an integral part of the aim for Chambers. We have established the Park Square Breakfast Club; delivered over 120 CPD seminars and are working towards raising £10,000 for a variety of charities as part of our ’10 for 10’ campaign to celebrate our 10th anniversary year.

A big thank-you to all our clients for their continued instructions and support over the last year and we look forward to working closely with you in the future.
