The MOJ has today confirmed that the implementation of sweeping reforms to whiplash claims, introduced by the Civil Liability Bill,
will be delayed until April 2020.
Included in the reforms are measures such as an increase in
the small claims limit and a tariff-based system of compensation for whiplash
claims.
The Ministry of Justice originally planned to implement the
changes in April 2019, however now intends to begin large-scale testing in
October 2019 with a view to full implementation the following April.
Details of the change in position are being widely reported,
including in the Law Society Gazette.
